London Commuters Speak On Tube Strike

One day after the tube strike, people are still feeling vocal about the disruption.

London was met with a halt on nine out of eleven underground tube line as RMT workers and Unite went on strike over pensions and working conditions.

All London underground faced severe disruptions yesterdays while London Overground saw minor disruptions.

Long queues formed at bus stops as commuters tried to find alternative routes. However, most buses were extremely overcrowded which caused a longer wait and agitation. Delays due to heavy traffic were also an issue.

This morning’s commuters were faced with a “strike hangover” as the network was still in chaos from yesterday’s 24-hour tube strike.

TfL workers were asked to comment on the situation with two saying they were told not to talk to the press.

One TfL worker expressed his opinion. “If you know your position has power, you need to create change”, he said about workers not getting their proper pay. He went on to add that the dispute over pension doesn’t affect him but he fully supports it.

Johny, a man we interviewed at Highbury and Islington station, did not support the strike however. “They get enough benefits. They’re not the ones who should be striking. NHS workers, for example, don’t get enough pay and they can’t go on strike.

There are more strikes planned in the month of December as the issue has not been resolved.
